Now, let's determine the move in latitude. The sketch shows the retracement for the south half of the latitudinal line and the south half of the calculated proportionate latitude.

As a check, calculate the move using the retracement data for the north half mile. Notice that the bearing of the retraced line is disregarded, since the record distance from the east will fix the corner position and departure.
