This sketch shows how we arrive at the true line latitude and departures. Here, 40 North plus 2.03 South equals 37.97 North and 1.67 West plus 0.00 East, since no east departures were made, equals 1.67 West. Next calculate the true line bearing and distance.




 

 



Using basic trig, this computes to North 2 degrees, 31 minutes West and a distance of 38.01 chains. This is the essential information to describe the location of the correct proportionate corner point.
