Range
lines are established at intervals of 6 miles to the east and 6 miles
to the west of the principal meridian. The resulting 6-mile-wide spaces
are called ranges and are numbered east and west of the principal meridian.
REMEMBER! The spaces,
not the lines, are called ranges, and the spaces, not the lines, are
numbered.
The first range west
is called Range 1 West.
The next range west
is called Range 2 West, and so on.
