For adjusting the measurement of each record course, set up the proportion as shown. Since the control corner was found to the south of its record position, the effect will be to proportionally show each record line. In this problem, the control line 110.84 divided by the record line, 113.04, times the record lengths for each course equals 61.77 chains for the South course and 52.95 chains for the North course.

 

 

 

 

 

So we now have all the information needed to center a search for the missing corner and to restore it if nothing can be found.
