Section 1 - Introduction and Broken Boundary Adjustment Methods

This is Unit 4, Section 1 of Restoration of Lost Corners by Proportionate Measurement. A training program developed by the Branch of Cadastral Survey development of the Bureau of Land Management. In this part of Unit 4, we should learn the techniques for handling two types of problems in broken boundary adjustments, nonriparian lines and grant boundaries.

Our first section deals with angle points of nonriparian meander lines commonly referred to as the Compass Rule adjustment or nonriparian, broken boundary adjustment.

Essentially the nonriparian broken boundary adjustment is the method of distributing the closing error proportionately along each course. The meander corners are the controlling corners for this adjustment.
