An 1895 map of the United States (lower 48).With the additions as described on the previous pages, the public domain now stretched from the west boundary of Pennsylvania to the Pacific Ocean and from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico. And it included Florida and Alaska.

Altogether, the public domain embraced more than one billion, 800 million acres (1,800,000,000 acres).
